Education for Photographers

Mentoring with Jordi

Chase the Seas; Conversation, Connection, Community

One thing that I have been most grateful for on my photography journey are the conversations, connections and community. I want to make these accessible for you because I think they are the key to unlocking your potential as a photographer!

My mentoring sessions are suitable for all skill levels as our session will be completely tailored to you. My mentees will received a personalised Mentoring Session Plan to allow you to get the most from your session. If you’re not sure of the right questions to ask or if you have a desire to improve but you’re not sure what’s holding you back, don’t worry – I will help you identify the right areas to work on (and provide a list of suggested talking points) ahead of the session so you can come into it feeling prepared.

My  photography journey

Straight out of school, I attended Bond University on the Gold Coast where I studied Law and Arts, with a double-major in journalism. As part of my journalism studies, I undertook courses in photography and photo journalism.

After graduating, I worked in television production – on some programs that you might recognise including; Funniest Home Videos, Mako Mermaids and I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here!

In 2014, my husband (then fiancé) and I landed the most amazing job working as surf instructors for a luxury surf tour company in the Maldives. I felt like I had landed in photographic heaven! It was actually impossible to take a bad photograph in such a beautiful environment. I spent endless hours perched on white sandy beaches capturing our surfing guests and the breathtaking ocean landscapes. This journey also took us to Central America before we returned home to start our family.

From there, it was such a natural transition for me to continue my pursuit of photography. We welcomed our daughter in 2017 and this is when I really started to dream about creating my photography business.

I became a sponge for all photography knowledge and tackled that steep learning curve head on! I officially launched my photography brand in July 2019. I have endured all the trials and tribulations along the way. I have dabbled in many areas of photography, learned some valuable lessons, forged great friendships with fellow photographers but, above all – I feel that I have found my purpose.

What do  you want from your mentor session?

Everyone will have a different answer to this question! For this reason, I will tailor your session to suit you. Whether you want to perfect your photography skills to document your own family, turn your hobby into a photography business or want to take your photography business to the next level – we will achieve this together.

The process

Step 1

Pay your session booking fee of $150 to secure the date for your Mentoring Session (please note that your session booking fee is not refundable).

You will receive an invoice for your 1:1 Mentoring Session (plus optional add-ons) and contract to view and sign via a private Client Portal.

The balance for your Mentoring Session is due 7 days prior to our session – this will be reflected on your invoice. You can make part-payments in the lead-up to your session and keep track of your remaining balance on your Client Portal.

Step 2

After you pay your session booking fee to confirm your session, you will receive a pre-session questionnaire and outline of possible talking points.

This is to be completed at least 72 hrs prior to our Mentoring Session to enable me to create your tailored Mentoring Session Plan.

Step 3

You will receive your tailored Mentoring Session Plan the day before your session. This will be based predominantly on your responses in the pre-session questionnaire and other communications in the lead-up to your session.

This printable plan will be used as a guide for our Mentoring Session and include space for you to add questions ahead of our session or take notes while we chat.

Step 4

Time for our Mentoring Session! You can access our video call via the link emailed to you. Or if you’ve opted for the ‘in-person’ add-on, we will meet in person (this can be at your home, a quiet nook of a cafe or a shady spot by the seaside).

No questions are off the table; my complete wealth of knowledge is at your disposal. I will answer any and all questions to the best of my ability based on my industry experience.

Step 5

Your head may be swirling with new information or you might think of even more questions after our session! Don’t worry – I will create a post-session written review for you to refer back to based on what we have spoken about.

Step 6

Over the next two weeks as you hopefully begin to put some newfound skills or information into practise, I will provide email support for clarification or feedback.

Step 7

You can join my online Facebook community of past mentees where you can take part in photography discussions, share experiences, seek feedback or ask questions of a like-minded community.

Come say "hey"!

Share your story with me and get to know more about my photography style or if I’m the right fit for you. I’d love the opportunity to connect with you, even if you’re not quite ready to book a Mentoring Session just yet.
