Gold Coast Photographer | What to expect when booking a session

What to consider when choosing your photographer

It’s no doubt that there are plenty of talented Gold Coast Photographers to choose from! So how do you decide which one is right for you? There is much more to consider than pricing and availability!

Firstly, consider what style of photo session you want. Do you want a studio, in-home or outdoor session on location? Do you want posed and polished images or natural images captured in the moment? Whatever your preference is, make sure to choose a photographer with proven work in this style that you’re after.

Some other things you might like to consider are the photographer’s editing style, package inclusions, professionalism and of course, their approachability during communications.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions and even request to see an example of a full gallery so you know what to expect from your own photo session.

Booking with Photos by Jordi

My biggest aim as a photographer is to ensure that you enjoy the process of having your photograph taken, just as much as you love the final product! From initial contact with you, I ensure that my photography services and booking process are clearly set out. I pride myself on having a professional workflow, giving my clients confidence in booking with me.

If you haven’t already, you can check out my booking process here. I have a handful of tailored Photo Collection options for my clients to choose from to suit what they’re after. These start from $450 and include a range of digital and print package options.

All you have to do to secure your photo session date is pay a booking fee of $250. You can then select and pay for your chosen Photo Collection by the day of your photography session.

The Big Day!

You might be feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement ahead of your photo session. But rest assured, you’ll know exactly when and where to meet me as I will always send you a photo session confirmation email with your session details and a map of exactly where to meet at our chosen location.

Throughout the booking process, you would have also received a Welcome Guide that gives you an outline of what to expect from the session. This provides a deeper story about me and how I like to run my sessions. The guide also includes answers to frequently asked questions and some wardrobe tips if you’re unsure.

The most important thing on the day of your session is to have fun and trust that I will beautifully capture the unfolding moments!

After your session

At the end of your session, I will always aim to give you an update about when you will receive your online image viewing gallery based on my schedule at the time. While it will take a maximum of three weeks, most galleries are delivered about 1.5-2.5 weeks after the photo session. But, what actually happens in those weeks following the session?

The very first thing I do upon returning to my home office is upload your images from my camera memory card to my external hard drive. As soon as the files are added to my hard drive, they are instantly backed up to secure cloud-based storage also. And just for good measure, I will not delete any of your session image files from my camera memory card until after you have safely received your final image gallery.

Once I have created these multiple backups of your image files, I then import your images into the editing program on my computer. Where possible, while the images are loading onto my computer, I will pick out a couple of sneak peeks to share with you. I will then sort through the images from your session and keep a selection of the best images; in determining the best images I usually consider how each one makes me feel as the viewer – the ones that tell a story or stir emotion are the ones that easily make the cut. Sorting through your session images can take 60-90 minutes depending on the number of images taken.

Upon deciding on the final images for your gallery, I will individually edit each image in line with my style. Aspects of the image that I will edit include exposure correction, tone and colour adjustments, cropping and straightening and removal of background distractions or minor blemishes. Each individual image takes approximately 2-5 minutes to edit, meaning a full gallery takes anywhere from 2-4+ hours to edit – usually on the longer end as I like to make sure everything is perfect!

After completing your image edits, I export the edited image files from the editing program back to my external hard drive (at which point, these edited image files are instantly backed up to cloud-based storage). From there, I upload the images to my gallery platform to be sent out to you!

Your image gallery

Within three weeks of your photography session, you will receive an email with access to your online password-protected viewing gallery. From here, you can select and download your included images and order print products through the Print Store within your gallery. You can even share the gallery with your family and friends to view.

I can assure you that I am standing by with bated breath, awaiting your feedback! Nothing makes my day more than to hear how much my clients love their photos!
