Is an outdoor newborn session right for me? | Reasons why you should consider an outdoor newborn session
It’s no secret that I absolutely love newborn sessions – especially outdoor newborn sessions! I think it is ultimate honour for me to be chosen to document a family with their new addition. Ordinarily I find that most families opt to do these sessions in the comfort of their home which makes for a beautiful and comfortable session. But I find that there is something really special about venturing outside to capture these moments with your sweet bundle.
If you’ve got a little one on the way or have recently welcomed your sweet babe, here’s why you should consider an outdoor newborn session!
1. You don’t have to worry about the mess at home
I think this reason on its own would be the decider for me! Because I remember in those early days I had burp cloths and nappies and blankets strewn everywhere. When I did muster the energy to do the washing, then the clean washing pile stacked higher and higher in the corner, my bed was often unmade and I welcomed any excuse to escape the mess…
2. An excuse to get outside
An outdoor newborn session is that perfect excuse to escape the mess and get outside. A newborn session is 60-90 minutes in length. It is the perfect reason to change out of that milk stained top and let down the messy mum bun! Not sure what to wear? I have a range of flowy and feeding-friendly dresses for you to choose from. I also have a beautiful range of items in my Newborn Client Closet, including heirloom knits, blankets, wraps, a Sacred Bundle change basket and a Bubba Cloud.
3. Great option all year round on the Gold Coast
We are so fortunate in South East Queensland that it doesn’t get too cold. Because of this, I hold newborn sessions outdoors in all seasons. In the cooler months, your little one can dress in warm items from my Client Closet, including the gorgeous romper, bonnet and booties set from Hank Knitwear. I also have a plenty of warm, neutral coloured blanket options for your use also. For example, the images below were taken during the winter months.
4. Cosy newborn nest
Perhaps one of my favourite things about outdoor newborn sessions is creating a cosy little nest for some solo shots of the baby. I supply everything needed but you are also welcome to include any favourite or meaningful blankets or wraps. I think the images below can probably sell it more than words!
5. Maternity and newborn photos at the same outdoor location
There is something truly magical about walking along the water’s edge or swaying in a backlit field with your beautiful bump. We can re-create those photos when your little one is Earth side. Those moments, potentially only weeks apart, will hold so much significance and take up some priority wall space, I’m sure! I offer a Bump to Baby package to document your pregnancy-to-motherhood journey.
